(Bqp.vn) - On March 5, in Hanoi, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission, and Deputy Defense Minister, received Indonesian Defense Attaché to Vietnam Colonel Jerry Henry Manuhutu.

At the reception, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien congratulated Colonel Jerry Henry Manuhutu on his new appointment as Indonesian Defense Attaché to Vietnam; expressing his belief that Colonel Jerry Henry Manuhutu would have a successful working term in Vietnam, contributing to promoting the defense cooperation between the two countries in the coming time. He affirmed that Vietnam and Indonesia are neighboring countries sharing a maritime border, have many similarities in interests; the Vietnam - Indonesia strategic partnership has developed very well in recent times with high political trust and comprehensive cooperation in all fields, of which defense and security cooperation is one of the important pillars.

Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien highly appreciated the important contributions of the Indonesian Defense Attaché Office in Vietnam in promoting the cooperation between the two defense ministries over the past time, achieving many positive results in many fields, such as: Exchange of delegations at all levels, especially the high-level ones; cooperation between armed forces and navies; effective maintenance of consultation and dialogue mechanisms; training cooperation; defense industry; logistics; coordination and mutual support at regional and international multilateral forums and mechanisms, etc.

Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien thanked the Indonesian Ministry of National Defense for sending a delegation to attend the 80th Founding Anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army and the 2nd Vietnam International Defense Expo. He suggested that in the time to come, Colonel Jerry Henry Manuhutu would continue to coordinate and promote cooperation activities between the two defense ministries, thereby further promoting the position and role of defense cooperation in bilateral relations, focusing on exchange of delegations; maintaining annual exchange and dialogue mechanisms; training; cooperation between armies and services, etc.
