(Bqp.vn) - On January 14, in Hanoi, General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense, met with General Chansamone Chanyalath, Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister of Laos, on the occasion of his working visit to Vietnam.

Speaking at the meeting, General Phan Van Giang affirmed that the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos have been constantly strengthened and increasingly developed in all fields. In particular, defense cooperation is one of the important pillars of the Vietnam - Laos bilateral relationship. Notably, the strategic political trust, solidarity and close relationship between the two armies have been increasingly consolidated; forms and mechanisms of cooperation have become increasingly diverse and widespread; security and order in the border areas of the two countries have been ensured; cooperation in human resource training has been increasingly valued with an increase in both quality and quantity; cooperation in building national defense potential and defense industry has become increasingly effective.
General Phan Van Giang hoped that in the coming time, the two sides would continue to maintain and strengthen the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos in general, the field of defense cooperation in particular.

For his part, General Chansamone Chanyalath thanked General Phan Van Giang for the warm meeting. He took the occasion to convey the greetings of the Lao Party and State leaders to the Vietnamese Party and State leaders on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2025. General Chansamone Chanyalath stressed that in recent times, the two sides have achieved many important and substantive results in bilateral defense cooperation. The two sides have closely coordinated and supported each other at multilateral forums, mechanisms and international events organized by each side, thereby contributing to strengthening the great friendship and special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.
