(Bqp.vn) - On April 8, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy Defense Minister General Nguyen Tan Cuong received Commander of the Philippine Army Lieutenant General Roy Mabagos Galido.

At the reception, General Nguyen Tan Cuong expressed his delight at the development of the Vietnam - Philippines strategic partnership in many fields such as politics, economy, defense, security, and people-to-people exchange. He emphasized that the military and defense cooperation between Vietnam and the Philippines has been valued by both sides in recent times, achieving many substantive results.

Informing General Nguyen Tan Cuong of the results of the previous talks with Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia, Lieutenant General Roy Mabagos Galido affirmed that he would make efforts to contribute to promoting cooperation between the two Army forces in particular, and bilateral defense cooperation in general, to become increasingly in-depth, substantive, and effective.

Highly appreciating the results of the talks, General Nguyen Tan Cuong hoped that in the coming time, the two Army forces would continue to promote exchange activities and delegation exchanges at all levels; cooperate in human resources training; coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums and mechanisms led by ASEAN; promote cooperation in potential areas such as natural disaster response, search and rescue, etc. He affirmed that the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense always supports and creates good conditions for the Army forces of the two countries to promote substantive cooperation.

On this occasion, General Nguyen Tan Cuong respectfully thanked the Philippine Ministry of National Defense for sending high-ranking delegations to attend the 80th Founding Anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army, the 35th Anniversary of All-People National Defense Day, and the Vietnam International Defense Expo 2024.
