(Bqp.vn) - On February 6, at the Headquarters of the Ministry of National Defense, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Defense Minister, received Indian Defense Attaché to Vietnam Colonel S. Muthukrishnan.

At the reception, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien congratulated Colonel S. Muthukrishnan on assuming the position of Indian Defense Attaché to Vietnam; believing that Colonel S. Muthukrishnan would make positive contributions, contributing to further strengthening the friendly relations and mutual understanding between the two countries and the two armies. He emphasized that in recent times, defense cooperation has been promoted by both sides, increasingly deepening and becoming more substantial. The Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense highly appreciated India’s effective cooperation and support, enhancing the capacity of the Vietnam People’s Army. The two sides effectively maintained cooperation mechanisms, such as: Defense Policy Dialogue at the deputy minister level; delegation exchanges at all levels; bilateral exercises on United Nations peacekeeping operations.
In the coming time, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien suggested that the two sides should focus on coordinating and promoting the implementation of a number of key contents, such as: Exchange of delegations, especially high-level ones; effectively maintaining existing cooperation mechanisms; training; cooperation between the two militaries; defense industry cooperation, etc.
Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien affirmed that the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense always supports and creates favorable conditions for the Indian Defense Attaché to Vietnam to successfully complete his tasks, contributing to promoting and further strengthening the defense cooperation between Vietnam and India.

For his part, Colonel S. Muthukrishnan expressed his honor to be appointed as the Indian Defense Attaché to Vietnam; affirmed that in his position, he would coordinate with agencies of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense to promote bilateral defense cooperation. Highly appreciating the success of the Vietnam International Defense Expo 2024, Colonel S. Muthukrishnan affirmed that this success showed the development potential of Vietnam’s defense industry; at the same time, he expressed his hope that in the coming time, the two sides would strengthen cooperation in the fields of defense industry, training, and cooperation between the two militaries.
