(Bqp.vn) - On February 10th, 2014 at the Vietnam National Defense Academy, Admiral cum Party Central Committee Member and Deputy Minister of Defense Nguyen Van Hien made a speech on the Open day. He talked about short-term senior training courses including course 35 on strategic direction and advisory, course 40 on local military affairs and course 15 on the Second General Department.

On the Open day, Lieutenant General cum director of the Academy Vo Tien Trung emphasized that the courses target is to train and improve the knowledge for military officers who need to meet the requirements of building and protecting the Nation. Accordingly, trainees will be created opportunities to study basic issues on Maxism-Leninism, issues on current revolutionary theories and practices of Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh’s ideas), the building of the socialist law-governed State and State government, and to improve their awareness of views and policies of the Party and State on defense-security. They will also study issues on building and protecting the Nation in the new age, foreign defense relations, Vietnam’s military strategies in nation protection wars, and operations of provincial and city protection areas. On behalf of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of Defense, Admiral Nguyen Van Hien praised and appreciated the achieved results of officers, lecturers, students, staff and soldiers in the Academy, in training and scientific research. He then shared the news on the current military situation in the region and in the world. To improve the training quality in the near future, he asked the Academy to properly organize and effectively implement the policies on defense-security strategies of the Party, the resolutions of the Party Central Committee, and especially central resolution 8 (term XI on the Nation protection strategy in the new situation) and the 2011-2020 military training and education strategies (studying and completing the training programs, contents and methods for different subjects). Also he asked the Academy to specifically train strategic military officers; in which officers need to be creative and active in training as well as in scientific studies. Meanwhile, trainees are requested to actively learn, study and obtain knowledge during the training courses in order to creatively implement and complete the tasks at hand.
