The Deputy PM made the appeal at a February 26 reception in Hanoi for the UK Prime Minister’s trade envoy to Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, Lord David Terence Puttnam.
He noted that the UK’s education sector is developing strongly, and that the Vietnamese Government wishes to build an education sector with a vision to the next five decades.
Speaking highly of the strategic partnership between the two countries—especially in economics, trade and investment—he said such co-operative outcomes have brought about practical benefits to each country’s development.
Vietnam and the UK possess important opportunities to further their relationship, particularly with two-way trade rapidly increasing, the minister said.
For his part, Lord Puttnam said the UK has always valued co-operation with Vietnam and that he hopes that landmark agreements reached between the two can be implemented soon.
He suggested that Vietnam assess its future demand for human resources to devise a long-term training plan in order to meet the requirements of sustainable development.
