Vietnam, Thailand hold the third defence policy dialogue
(Bqp.vn) - The third Vietam -Thailand Defence Policy Dialogue took place in Ho Chi Minh City on September 19. The event was under the co-chair of Vietnamese Deputy Defence Minister Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh and Permanent Secretary for Defence Ministry of Thailand General Natt Intracharoen.

At the dialogue, the two sides discussed in depth regional and international security issues which affect the security of each country and co-operation in the ASEAN Community in the region and the world as well. They also talked about competition among power countries, maritime security, and non-traditional challenges, such as terrorism and transnational crime and valued the important role of ASEAN in coping with those issues.

They agreed that the partnership between the two defence ministries continued to develop and produce practical results. The two sides also agreed to continue promoting the exchange of delegations and young officers, training, cooperation in United Nations peacekeeping activities, anti-terrorism etc.
The Vietnam - Thailand defence policy dialogue is a regular mechanism for the two countries to discuss strategic issues and orient the bilateral defence cooperation, which is an important pillar in the relationship between Vietnam and Thailand.
