ActionsGeneral Ngo Xuan Lich inspecting and reviewing the preparation of ADMM Retreat and other international defence cooperation activities in 2020
(Bqp.vn) - On February 15, in Hanoi, Defence Minister General Ngo Xuan Lich chaired the meeting to inspect and review preparation of ADMM Retreat and other international defence cooperation activities in 2020. Attending the meeting were Deputy Defence Minister Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quang Phuong, Deputy Chief of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, Lieutenant General Le Huy Vinh, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army.

At the meeting, the representatives of relevant agencies and units of The Ministry of National Defence reported on the results of the preparation of ADMM Retreat which will take place from February 18 - 20 in Hanoi; other defence and military meetings hosted by Vietnam as the ASEAN Chair in 2020 as well as at the UN Security Council during Vietnam’s non-permanent membership in the Council in the period of 2020 - 2021; preparation of international defence cooperation activities, working plans for international defence cooperation activities in 2020 of leaders of the Ministry of National Defence… According to these reports, the relevant agencies actively coordinated and built plans and well prepared for ADMM Retreat, defence and military meetings and other international defence activities in 2020. Up to now, the preparation for ADMM Retreat was almost completed. Especially, to cope with COVID-19, the Ministry of National Defence did inspect, implement many activities as screening body temperature, cleaning the meeting area, health-checking for drivers, establishing mobile medical teams…; and preparing all senarios to be ready to all situations which can be occurred.
Speaking at the meeting, General Ngo Xuan Lich emphasized that the international defence cooperation activities in 2020 are very important, contribute to the overall success of Vietnam as the ASEAN Chair in 2020. Appreciating the efforts of relevant agencies, General Ngo Xuan Lich also requested the agencies and units, based on their assigned tasks, continue to review and work well in preparation for ADMM Retreat, focus in logistics, security and safety for all meetings, especially the prevention and control of COVID-19, at the same time, the media activities of ADMM Retreat and other international defence cooperation activities in 2020 should be promoted as well, to help express the image of Vietnam and the people as well as the image of Vietnam People’s Army worldwide.
