To take the initiative in preparing for ASEAN Chairmanship 2020 and non-permanent member of the UNSC for the 2020-2021 tenure

(Bqp.vn) - The steering committee and sub-committees on ASEAN Year 2020 under the Ministry of National Defence held a meeting on January 2 to review their preparations for defense-military events within the framework of ASEAN Year 2020. The meeting was chaired by the Minister of National Defence General Ngo Xuan Lich with Deputy Defence Minister Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh and Deputy Chief of the General Staff Lieutenant General Ngo Minh Tien in attendance.

At the meeting, all related units reported on relevant contents and initiatives that the Vietnam People’s Army planned to propose in the year that Vietnam taking the role as ASEAN Chairmanship 2020 and non-permanent member of the UNSC.

Having been briefed on the task performances of the steering committee and the sub-committees, General Ngo Xuan Lich applauded their efforts and reaffirmed that the success of defence-military events in ASEAN Year 2020 would significantly contribute to improving the position of the Vietnam People’s Army in the international arena.
