Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh received the EU delegation to Vietnam Franz Jessen

(Bqp.vn) - Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh on August 6th received outgoing Ambassador and Head of the EU delegation to Vietnam Franz Jessen.

At the reception, the Vietnamese general stressed that the Vietnam-EU defence cooperation has been developing, but untapping both sides’ potentials. Therefore, in the time to come, Vietnam and the EU should enhance bilateral cooperation, especially in regional and international security fora on such issues as peacekeeping operations, UXO clearance, etc. He further confirmed that Vietnam is willing to boost defence cooperation with the bloc and its members, hoping that the ambassador would spare more efforts for developing defence cooperation between the two sides.

For his part, Ambassador Franz Jessen held that over the past time the Vietnam-EU defence cooperation has seen significant improvement. The EU official stressed that the bloc is willing to support Vietnam in peacekeeping operations, anti-piracy, and training for Vietnamese officers.
