(Bqp.vn) - Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien received visiting Senior Aid to US Senator Tim Rieser in Hanoi on August 31.

At the reception, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien expressed his thanks to the U.S. Government, Senator Patrick Leahy and Mr. Tim Rieser personally for their support in projects to overcome the war consequences that the two countries has been implementing. Vietnam always consider the U.S. one of its top important partners in many fields, in which, cooperation in overcoming war consequences plays an important role in the relationship between the two countries, contributing to building trust and promoting the bilateral cooperation.

In the coming time, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien hoped that the U.S. would continue to promote cooperation in the field of overcoming the consequences of mines and toxic chemicals/dioxins.

Regarding cooperation in searching and gathering the remains of Vietnamese martyrs, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien suggested that the U.S. should continue to promote the effective implementation of cooperation contents of the signed Memorandum of Understanding.

For his part, Mr. Tim Rieser thanked the host for sharing the results of cooperation between the two sides in overcoming the war consequences, appreciating the results that the two sides have achieved over the past time. He affirmed that cooperation in overcoming war consequences is a foundation in the relationship between the two countries. The U.S. committed to continue working with Vietnam to promote this work effectively in the coming time, he stressed.
