The opening ceremony of Second English Olympics of Army’s academies and colleges

(Bqp.vn) - The General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army launched the Second English Olympics of Army’s academies and colleges on November 25.

The opening ceremony saw the presence of Lieutenant General Ngo Minh Tien, Deputy Chief of the General Staff.

Under the theme “the Army youth follows Uncle Ho’s sayings”, the five-day competition drew the participation of over 200 cadets in 19 teams from schools and academies in the army.

The contestants will compete in two categories: group and individual. In the individual competition, each competitor will perform their English skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Meanwhile, the group competition will have three subjects of greetings, general knowledge, and an oral test on the stage.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Lieutenant General Ngo Minh Tien reaffirmed the significant role of the competition and stressed that the military schools should organize the school-level competitions regularly to promote the language learning movement. The winners of the competition are expected to be key personnel in the future for the defence external sector, he added.
