ActionsArmy unit receives second-class Order
(Bqp.vn) - Regiment 1, under Division 330 of Military Zone 9, held a ceremony to mark its 50th anniversary and receive the second-class Fatherland Protection Order, on September 23rd.
Present at the meeting were General Pham Van Tra, former Defence Minister, and Lieutenant-General Mai Quang Phan, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and Defence Minister General Phung Quang Thanh sent a flower bouquet and a congratulatory letter, respectively, to the unit.
Set up on September 23rd, 1963 at the U Minh revolutionary base in Khanh Lam commune, U Minh district, Ca Mau province, Regiment 1, known as U Minh Regiment, is the first regular unit of the Southwestern liberation army.
Over 50 years of combat and development, the unit was three times conferred the title “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” in 1973, 1975 and 1989.
Notably, many individuals and units of the regiment were presented with the above title.
Speaking at the ceremony, General Pham Van Tra hoped that Regiment 1’s troops would continue to bring into play its glorious tradition to promote combat readiness and training quality, as well as build a strong party organization and comprehensive strong unit.
