Train tickets to be sold online from November 2014
(Bqp.vn) - Vietnam Railways will sell its tickets online from November this year in a bid to help people buy train tickets easily and to provide updated information on train journeys.
Customers will be offered with various ways of booking tickets 24-7 around the clock.
A contract to this effect was signed between the Vietnam Railways and FPT Group in Hanoi on July 31.
Under the contract, investor FPT will spend VND197 billion (US$9.26 million) on building and providing an online ticket system for Vietnam Railways. Vietnam Railways will then manage and operate the system.
According to Deputy General Director of Vietnam Railways Doi Sy Hung, the online ticket selling project will be carried out for seven years which will include three phases.
The first phase includes the building and installation of the infrastructure system which will take 120 days. In the second phase, Vietnam Railways will provide people with online tickets through its website for one year, starting from late November 2014.In the third phase, Vietnam Railways will offer a complete online ticket service for six years from late November 2015 which will be applied at all railways stations in Vietnam.
The online ticket system will provide people with various ways of booking tickets such as through websites, smart phones, phone messages, and automated machines at stations. Customers will also be able to use domestic and international credit cards to pay for tickets 24-7 around the clock.
