Military Region 1
Military Region 1 is under the Ministry of Defence of Vietnam, located in a region of strategic importance to social-economic development, foreign relations, and national security and defence. Military Region 1 includes provinces: Cao Bang, Lang Son, Bac Kan, Thai Nguyen, Bac Ninh, and Bac Giang. It is tasked to organize, build, manage and command three components armed forces (regular, local armed forces, and militia and self-defence force); regularly highlight the sense of revolutionary vigilance, focusing on the improvement of training results and combat readiness of the people’s Armed Forces, building the people’s war posture; actively taking part in humanitarian aids and disaster relief, making contribution to firmly defending the Fatherland.
Military Region 2
Military Region 2 is under the Ministry of Defence of Vietnam, tasked to organize, build, manage and command the armed forces in its region including regular, local armed forces and militia and self-defence force. The Military Region 2 consists of following provinces: Vinh Phuc, Phu Tho, Yen Bai, Tuyen Quang, Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Son La.
Military Region 3
Military Region is under the Ministry of National Defence of Vietnam, tasked to organize, build, manage and command the armed forces in its region including regular, local armed forces and militia and self-defence force. It consists of Hai Phong city and provinces: Hung Yen, Hai Duong, Hoa Binh, Nam Dinh, Ha Nam, Ninh Binh, Quang Ninh, Thai Binh.
Military Region 4
Military Region 4 located in a strategic region in the whole people’s war posture, tasked to organize, build, manage and command the armed forces in order to fight for the protection of the North Central part of the Fatherland. Implementing the order of late President Ho Chi Minh, on 15/10/1945 the 4th War Zone was established, including Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Trị, and Thua Thien – Hue.
Military Region 5
Military Region 5 is under the Ministry of National Defence of Vietnam, tasked to organize, build, manage and command the armed forcesin its region, firmly defending the South Central part and the Central High Land area of the Fatherland. Military Region 5 includes Da Nang city and provinces: Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, and Dak Nong.
Military Region 7
Military Region 7 is a by-region military organization, which was established on 10/12/1945, including the city of Saigon and the provinces of Gia Dinh, Cholon, Ba Ria, Bien Hoa, Thu Dau Mot and Tay Ninh. Now they are Ho Chi Minh city and the provinces of Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Binh Thuan, Dong Nai, Lam Dong, Long An and Tay Ninh.
In 30 years of resistance war against French colonialists and U.S. imperialists, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the armed forces of Military Region 7 both developed and fought. Among a number of hardships and sacrifice, there appeared unique and effective fighting techniques, creating many brilliant victories in all three metropolitan areas, plains and forests, making contribution to the change of the battlefield situations, together with the people and armed forces of the whole nation defeated enemy’s operations, liberating the country.
Military Region 9
Military Region is under the Ministry of National Defence of Vietnam, tasked to organize, build, manage and command the armed forces, making contribution to firmly defending the Mekong River Delta area of the Fatherland. It includes Can Tho city and provinces: Hau Giang, Vinh Long, Dong Thap, Kien Giang, Ca Mau, Bac Lieu, Tien Giang, and Tra Vinh.
Hanoi Capital High Command
Born from the revolutionary movement of the public, armed forces of Hanoi Capital was an important part of Vietnam People’s Army. It inherited and upheld the heroic and undaunted tradition of fighting against foreign invaders of Hanoi Capital and the tradition of “Thousand years of Thang Long-Hanoi”. Together with classes of people of the Hanoi Capital, Hanoi Capital Command has been continuously writing magnanimous pages of history in contribution to bring fame to the country.
Before and during the August Revolution, precursor units of the Capital Armed Force pioneered to boost armed struggles and actively prepared favourable conditions for an uprising to take control of Hanoi again, in decisive contribution to the victory of the August Revolution in 1945, crushing over 80-year domination of colonialism, overthrowing thousand-year-feudalism, winning independence and freedom for the nation and bringing the master right for Vietnamese people. Hanoi Capital’s Armed Forces teamed with classes of people to be determined to destroy the enemy’s activities and to strongly defend the revolution’s achievements to pull Vietnamese revolution from being hung by a hair.
