ActionsNinh Thuan inaugurates water management project
(VDP) - The central province of Ninh Thuan has launched an integrated water management and urban development project to proactively manage the effects of climate change.

The EUR9.5 million project is co-funded by the Government of Vietnam and the Kingdom of Belgium, which has contributed EUR8 million to the endeavour.
The project is expected to run until November 2019, with to the objective of developing the province’s institutional capacity on water resource management and urban development in order to deal with climate change.
A comprehensive strategy on climate change will be developed based on research and hydrological models of the Dinh River Basin and the Nai lagoon.
In addition, climate change adaptation and recovery strategies will also be devised at the provincial level with the active participation of local communities and the private sector; thereby contributing to the sustainable development of the province.
Vice Chairman Tran Xuan Hoa of the Ninh Thuan People’s Committee emphasised the importance of the Belgian Government’s support, as Ninh Thuan province is among the Vietnamese localities most vulnerable to climate change.
