ActionsMeeting marks World Water Day
(Bqp.vn) - A meeting themed “Water and Energy” was convened in the northern mountainous province of Lai Chau on March 21 in response to World Water Day (March 22).
Those present at the event included Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai, international delegates, representatives of local departments and ministries, and more than 4,500 staff, students and local residents.
World Water Day aims to raise awareness of the close link between water and energy, and ways to promote this relationship, among international organisations, governments and local communities.

It provides an opportunity for managers, enterprises, scientists, and students to share their thoughts regarding sustainable exploitation of water resources and economical use of energy.
Addressing the meeting, Deputy PM Hai emphasized that water resource protection is an urgent issue, and he called on local agencies, authorities and people throughout the country to use water efficiently.
He asked for the people’s support to save energy, and suggested they work together to minimize water damage and disaster risk, further strengthen forest and water environmental protection and ensure national energy security.
The event was co-organised by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) and the provincial People’s Committee.
