Second day of competition at AARM-24

(Bqp.vn) - Shortly after the 24th ASEAN Armies Rifle Meet Opening Ceremony (AARM-24), on the afternoons of 19-20/11/2014, the ASEAN Armies athletes of men pistol, rifle, ladies pistol, carbine and machine gun entered the competition Match 1.

To create comfortable feeling to the athletes prior to the competition, the Organizing Committee let the athletes draw ballots to register shooting range entrance and trial fire.

In the category of ladies pistol, there are 5 athletes each turn going to firing line, firing in standing position at 5 targets with 30 rounds: Shooting from target number 1 to target number 3 with right hand, left hand and quick fire at target number 4 with 6 rounds. The total highest point in the category is 300 points.

In the category of rifle, there are 8 athletes each turn shooting at a distance of 300 meters, moving and firing at a distance of 350 meters, then moving 400 meters to shoot targets and shooting discs at a distance of 300 meters.

In the category of machine gun, there are 3 firing parts, firing in battery, there are 2 gunners in each battery; at a distance of 500 meters, each gunner shoots 20 rounds in 35 seconds, then moves 100 meters and shoots at a distance of 400 meters, time for moving and firing is 60 seconds, each gunner shoots 20 rounds, after 15 seconds, when a target appear, each gunner shoots 20 rounds at the target, the shooting time is 30 seconds, with an overall score of 400 points.

In the category of carbine, there are 5 gunners each shooting turn, shooting revolving targets including 4 parts: distance of 100 meters, without support shooting target 11A, 10 rounds, shooting time 25 seconds, then moving a distance of 75 meters shooting in a kneeling or squatting position, or without support, 10 rounds, then firing in standing position 10 rounds without support in a distance of 50 meters and finally shooting revolving targets 5 times with 10 rounds in a distance of 25 meters. The result of this shooting match is calculated in the form of individual scores of each gunner then plus points of 4 gunners for team’s score. The total maximum score is 200 points.

Under the evaluation of the Organizing Committee, through the first two days of competition: the contingents and athletes have maintained strict implementation of the categories and programs as planned, ensuring absolute safety. In the process of the competition, the umpires have worked fairly, calculated scores scientifically, when calculating scores of each targets, there is always the presence of contingent chiefs and 3 supervisors of 3 countries in accordance with the provisions of the tournament charter. Shooting results are posted on the screen right in the field. After 2 days of competition, there have been many gunners gaining high achievements, several new records have been set.

As planned on 21st November teams: rifle, carbine, men pistol, ladies pistol and machine gun are entering the competition Match 2.
