Winners of writing contest on Uncle Ho's moral example honoured

(Bqp.vn) - The awards presentation ceremony for the third phase of the Nhan Dan (People) newspaper writing contest on ‘Studying and Following President Ho Chi Minh’s Moral Example’ was held at Hanoi Opera House on May 14.

This year’s annual contest, jointly organised by Nhan Dan newspaper and Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PVN), was attended by Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, along with leaders of ministries, sectors and organisations.

In his speech, CPVCC member and Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan newspaper, Thuan Huu said that the contest, the third of its kind, continues to discover and honour role models in the ‘Studying and Following President Ho Chi Minh’s Moral Example’ campaign, as well as popularise the Politburo’s Directive No.3 on promoting ‘Studying and Following Uncle Ho’s Moral Example’ and the CPVCC’s Resolution No.4 on Party-building work.

This year’s competition attracted more than 700 entries from writers, journalists, researchers, collaborators and war veterans - both at home and abroad, of which over 130 were published in Nhan Dan Newspaper’s publications, the Editor-in-Chief said. Many articles depicted outstanding collectives and individuals studying and following Uncle Ho’s moral example, he added.

The organisers selected the 19 best entries to receive awards, with one first prize, three second prizes, five third prizes and 10 consolation prizes.

First prize went to collaborator Hoang Tien for his article about Le Anh Duong, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Committee of Tan Yen district in the northern province of Bac Giang. He was praised for his high level of responsibility and closeness to people, as well as his contributions to local socio-economic development.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc spoke highly of Nhan Dan newspaper and PVN for organising the contest for three consecutive years. He expressed his belief that the contest would continue to gain success in the future, encourage and inspire Party members and the entire population to study and follow President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example, as well as contribute to national construction and development.

On the occasion, Nhan Dan Newspaper and the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group also launched the fourth phase of the writing contest on ‘Studying and Following President Ho Chi Minh’s Moral Example’ for the 2014-2015 period.
